Whenever I want to create a new digital product or am looking for ideas for products or services to promote, I find nothing works best for me than brainstorming on Amazon,Ebay or Google groups when looking for a niche market.
IMO if there is a Google Group then there is a market there for a product or service.
I’ve drilled down in Google Groups, having focussed my group search in ireland.

The Mountainbiking Club has some 306 members and averages 11 posts per month. But look further down and you can see UCD’s Mountaineering Club has far more subscribers, some 829 with 3 posts per month.
So using Google Groups you can help come up with ideas for a potential product or website that can be tailored to a speficic audience and geographic region.
Remember, you don’t need to stick with a geographic region when looking for niches. Niches are EVERYWHERE. My main niche is Vedic Maths and I believe I had done well in capturing a vast amount of the traffic world wide when it comes to Vedic Maths searches.
Let’s try another method of looking for niches.
Every now and again I take a look at Amazon to help me find a niche. In particular i look at the magazines that are for sale on Amazon. This is becuase if there wasn’t a market for the product, then there wouldn’t be a magazine for it, now would there?

using Amazon to find a niche
Don’t worry about searching in Amazon.com rather than Amazon.co.uk – remember we want to find the right niche and need to have plenty to choose from.
I will take a look in “carfts & Hobbies” and then drill down further into “Pottery & Ceramics”
Wow – check this out for a niche – Indian Ceramics!
If you were a collector of fine Indian Ceramics then I am sure there are eager buyers out there for your products.
perhaps you’d just like to create a website that illustrates some Indian Ceramics, and integrate some Google Adsense into it to help with generating revenue.
but remember, before you go and create your great niche site and become an Internet Millionaire, just take a look to make sure that there isn’t a lot of competition out there, or it wouldn’t be a niche! You can do this by using the allintitle method which I have covered in detail here

Hi Kevin,
Enjoyed your articles.Could I ask you: How many people in a particular niche or interest do you need to make it worth your while creating a product for that niche?
Thanks,
Mike Crowley
Hi Mike,
your question was too important to answer via a comment so I created a new page on it here: http://www.internetmoney.ie/internet-marketing/niche-marketing-are-there-enough-people-for-my-niche-market/
