How To Increase and Improve Your Opt-in Rate for Your Email List

Last month I received an email from a concerened internet marketer in Aberdeen about the huge number of “unconfirmed” email opt-ins he had on his list and wanted to know what I do to help increase this number.

My current “confirmed” opt-in rate stands at 96% What this means is for every 100 people who put their email address into my landing page signup form 4 people don’t “confirm” the email in their inbox. I run a Double Optin confirmation which means that the subscriber has to opt-in on my form then has to confirm the signup by clicking on the cofirm link in an email my autoresponder software automatically sends them.

I would consider this a good opt-in rate, given that before I implemented my special “opt-in check”  my opt-in percentage was in the region of 78%.

So what did I do to improve the email confrimations?

Simple – I told the subscribers what to do :)

So the old way depicts that the user would opt in, then on opt-in confirmation they would get diverted to the report they signed up for.

The new way diverts them to a special page i created that tells the user to opt in. This page shows you what is needed in order to receive the free report.

This simple page took no more than 20 mins to create and upload and as a consequence contributed to an increase in my opt-in rate of 18% which in turn means an increase in affiliate commissions.
